April 2006: "Denmark was one of the first countries in the world to make public services available on-line. The Danish government is now taking this one step further, making many on-line public services compulsory. Opinions are mixed. (...) Critics worry that making many public services compulsory on-line is not the right way forward and that there is a risk of alienating people who are not comfortable with logging on, leading to the exclusion of a small minority. The government acknowledges these concerns but insists that compulsion is necessary to achieve a real transformation within society and a critical mass of users for the new services on offer".
