Historical Archives of the European Union
Soeben im "Journal of the Society of Archivists" erschienen: der Beitrag "The Historical Archives of the European Union: Their Opening to the Public, Management and Accessibility" von Christopher Audland. Zum Inhalt: "Against the background of the 50th Anniversary this year of the signature of the two Rome Treaties, cornerstones of the European Union of 27 Member States (the EU) today, it was thought useful for professional archivists to discover how a vast collection of historical archives, directly affecting the lives of nearly 500 million people, were opened to the public, and how they have been rendered accessible and managed ever since: namely the Historical Archives of the EU. This article will, in its first part, explain the complex manner of their creation and, in its second part, give information about their contents, and explain how they may be accessed by researchers and the wider public".
