Blooker-Preis für Soldaten-Weblog

Die Combined Arms Research Library machte mich darauf aufmerksam, dass der US-amerikanische Soldat Colby Buzzell mit dem Blooker Prize ausgezeichnet wurde: Dieses Preis wird an "blooks" vergeben, also an Bücher, die auf Weblogs oder Websites basieren. Aus der Laudatio: "'My War: Killing Time in Iraq'", by Colby Buzzell, (...) is the frank account of post-invasion Iraq as blogged directly from the war zone".
Links: Das Weblog "My war. Killing time in Iraq" wurde im Juni 2004 gestartet. - Das Buch ist bei Penguin bzw. Berkley erschienen. - Zum Preis gibt es auch ein Weblog.

Geheimdienstinformationen verloren?

Heise online meldet heute, dass im deutschen "Zentrum für Nachrichtenwesen der Bundeswehr" der Bestand an Geheimdienstinformationen aus den Jahren 1999 bis 2003 verloren gegangen sei: "Es habe sich sich dabei um 'brisante geheime Berichte über die Auslandseinsätze der Bundeswehr' gehandelt, beispielsweise vom Bundesnachrichtendienst, von den Militärattachés im Ausland, sowie um Mitteilungen ausländischer Nachrichtendienste". Bei den Daten im "Joint Analysis System Military Intelligence"-System JASMIN habe es anscheinend aus Kapazitätsgründen nur eine Kopie gegeben, die nun nicht mehr lesbar sei. - Vgl. Und da sag einer, die Karteikarten hätten keinen Vorteil gehabt... Aber mir kommt das dennoch eigenartig vor - gibt es da nicht Mikrofilme in großen unterirdischen bombensicheren Lagern oder hab ich zuviele Agentenfilme gesehen?

Einschränkung für SoldatInnen-Blogs

Patience Wait berichtet in den Government Computer News, dass die US-amerikanische Armee strenge Richtlinien für bloggende SoldatInnen erlassen hat: "The Army has issued revised regulations that set stringent new limits on soldiers' ability to participate in blogs on the Internet. The regulations are so strict that they even set limits on the ability of families and contractors to contribute their writings — even though the Army regulations are off-limits to them". - Hinweis aus Free government information.
