Als ich in APA OTS gerade die Schlagzeile "Mölzer: EU-Justizminister wollen Weg zur PC-Diktatur ebnen" las, dachte ich gleich an eGovernment - allein, es handelt sich um die "Political correctness" und nicht den "Personal Computer".

Das Online-Magazin Re-public hat soeben den ersten Teil der Sonderausgabe mit dem Namen "Wiki politics" veröffentlicht: "The issue explores how the use of new collaborative tools (wikis, blogs, forums, mailing lists, podcasting, and videos) can transform the ways politics are practiced".- Hinweis aus Internetz.

Neu: IWG-Kommentar

Im Verlag Österreich ist nun ein Kommentar und Praxishandbuch zum Informationsweiterverwendungsgesetz von Rainer Knyrim und Elisabeth Weissenböck erschienen. Zum Inhalt: "Informationsweiterverwendungsrecht ist eine völlig neue, durch die 'Public Sector Information Richtlinie' der EU geschaffene Rechtsmaterie, die es insbesondere Unternehmen ermöglichen soll, Informationen der öffentlichen Hand kommerziell weiterzuverwenden. Das IWG steht im Schnittpunkt zwischen einer großen Anzahl von Rechtsbereichen, ua Datenschutzrecht, Urheberrecht, Vergaberecht und Wettbewerbsrecht und schafft dort neues Recht, ohne bestehendes zu verdrängen. Die komplexe Materie soll mit diesem Buch, das gleichzeitig einen Kommentar und ein Praxishandbuch beinhaltet, erstmalig in Österreich aufgearbeitet werden".

Kerala Legislative Assembly Proceedings

Der technische Report "Digital Archive of Kerala Legislative Assembly Proceedings" von C.S. Sathikumar, R. Raman Nair und N.K. Bhagi aus dem Jahr 2007 ist nun bei E-LIS abzurufen.
Abstract der AutorInnen: The Assembly records consist of proceedings of Legislative Council of Travancore from 1988, Travancore Sri Mulam Popular Assembly from 1904, Sri Mulam Assembly and the Sri Chitra State Council from 1933, Travancore Legislative Assembly from 1948, Cochin Legislative Council from 1925, Cochin Legislative Assembly from 1948, Travancore-Cochin Legislative Assembly from 1949 and Kerala Legislative Assembly from 1957. These records are authentic sources for research on the region's history, polity and economic development. Their importance for legislative business is unique and form the most important records collection held by government. The report makes recommendations for ensuring their conservation and safety, efficient organization and management, and speedy and effective dissemination of the content for the business of the Assembly, for the reference of the judiciary and government as well as for research. Covers aspects like the process of conversion of the records into digital form, implementing a Digital Library System having specialized hardware and software that can ensure storage without possibility of tampering or editing originals, and techniques to be used for full text indexing, data basing and organization of digitized records as a functional digital library. The report estimates total cost of the project as Rs. 1,30,36457 which includes consultancy, digital archiving, indexing and data basing of approximately 6.2 lakhs printed pages, and acquiring hardware and software to establish a Digital Library. Estimated time required completion is three years.

Die Fortbildungsveranstaltung "Informationsspezialisten in Parlaments- und Behördenbibliotheken heute. Expertenwissen proaktiv vermitteln" findet am 30. und 31. August 2007 in Potsdam statt. WebHarvest für .gov-Seiten

"Millions and Millions of Government and Military Web Pages Archived by NARA and The IA", titelt Gary Price im Weblog "Free government information". Die National Archives & Records Administration (NARA) grast in regelmäßigen Abständen alle .gov-Seiten ab, speichert sie und stellt diese Momentaufnahmen online zur Verfügung: "Those harvests are currently conducted at the end of each Presidential term (4 years) and Congress (2 years) to provide a macro view of how the government's web presence changes with the election cycles".
